The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.
The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the back-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

If your force requirements are lower, stepping down to a 125mm bore yields 8590N at the same pressure. For higher force needs, the 200mm bore provides 21991N. Select SAILB specifically when the load must be secured in the rod-in position; choose SAILF if the load must be held at the extended end. If your application requires locking at an arbitrary mid-stroke point rather than at the stroke terminal, select the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder instead.
Valve selection is critical for safe operation: never use a fast-exhaust valve with this lock cylinder, as back-pressure on the locker side can unintentionally release the lock. Always utilize an independent-exhaust solenoid valve. At a 700mm stroke, the extended rod length increases susceptibility to side-loading, so rigid guidance or a linear guide should be incorporated to prevent premature seal wear. For safety-critical loads that could cause injury if dropped, add an independent mechanical safety measure alongside the lock.
