The AirTAC Airtac BSAID Clamp Cylinder BSAID125X100S is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 cylinder with a Ø125mm bore, 100mm stroke and a spring-applied, air-released clamp-lock that holds the rod at ANY position along its travel — with a static holding force of 8600 N.
The AirTAC BSAID125X100-S is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a rod out both ends and an integrated spring-applied, air-released clamp-lock. It provides a static holding force of 8600 N at any position along its 100 mm travel. Because it is a double-rod design, the thrust is equal in both directions at 5734 N (0.5 MPa), and the second rod allows you to mount a guide, counterweight, or position flag on the opposite end for dual-side anti-rotation guidance.
It is crucial to distinguish holding force from thrust: the 8600 N clamp grip is a separate static braking value from the 5734 N pneumatic thrust, so you must size the clamp against the static load, not the cylinder's push force. The clamp locks only after the rod has stopped moving; it cannot brake a moving load. Furthermore, the lock requires a third G1/8 enclasp port to release, and you must balance air pressure on both piston sides before unlocking, or the rod may jump abruptly.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC BSAI datasheet (ISO 15552). Operating pressure is 0.15–0.7 MPa (lower than a plain SAI). Port options: PT / G.
A spring-applied gripper clamps the rod and holds the load at any position in the stroke — not just at the stroke end (that is a SAIL) — and it is bidirectional: it holds whether the rod was extending or retracting.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 6136 N | 5734 N |
| 0.7 MPa (max) | 8590 N | — |
Equal force both directions (double rod). Rated to the 0.7 MPa operating maximum for this series. The clamp holding force (8600 N) is separate from cylinder thrust. Size with a margin.
Secures heavy vertical lifting stages at any point in the travel, preventing gravity-driven drops during power loss.
Freezes the dual rods mid-stroke to hold a workpiece firmly for milling or inspection without live air pressure.
Uses the second rod for mounting a counterweight or guide, maintaining anti-rotation stability while the clamp holds the load.
Choose this 125 mm bore when an application demands heavy mid-stroke holding and equal bidirectional force. If you need less holding power, the 100 mm bore offers 5500 N holding force and 3681 N thrust at 0.5 MPa. If you only need to hold the load at the stroke ends, a plain SAIL or SAID cylinder suffices, but the BSAID series is required for true lock-anywhere positioning. For safety-critical loads, add an independent mechanical measure, as the clamp is not a moving-rod brake.
This model includes a -S magnet for precise CMSE reed and DMSE electronic sensors. It uses PT tapered ports (1/2 in cylinder ports, G1/8 enclasp port) and a robust M27x2 rod thread that handles high side loads. The BSAID mounting set omits FB, CA, CB, and CR brackets, accepting only Basic, FA, LB, TC, TCM1, and TCM2. Operating pressure is 0.15-0.7 MPa, with a speed range of 30-500 mm/s.
Quick checklist
The integrated spring-applied clamp provides a static holding force of 8600 N. It engages at any position along the 100 mm stroke, but only locks after the rod has completely stopped moving.
The clamp is released via a third G1/8 enclasp port. You must balance the air pressure on both sides of the piston before unlocking; otherwise, the dual rods can move abruptly. An independent safety measure is required for human-safety loads.
