The AirTAC BSAID40X800 is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a rod extending from both ends and an integrated spring-applied, air-released clamp-lock. It delivers a bidirectional holding force of 900 N at any position along its 800 mm stroke. Because it is a double-rod unit, the thrust is equal in both directions at 528 N (0.5 MPa), and the second rod allows you to mount a workpiece on one end and a guide, counterweight, or position flag on the other for dual-side anti-rotation.
A critical distinction is that the 900 N static clamp holding force is a separate quantity from the 528 N thrust; you must size the holding capacity against the static load, not the cylinder's push force. The clamp engages via a dedicated G1/8 enclasp port, but it only locks after the piston has stopped moving—it cannot brake a rod in motion. Furthermore, the lock must be released with balanced air pressures on both sides, or the rod may jump abruptly upon unlock.

Choose this double-rod BSAID40X800 when an application requires equal force both ways and intermediate holding along the travel; if you only need end-of-stroke holding, a SAIL unit suffices. If your load exceeds 900 N, step up to the 50 mm bore, which provides 825 N thrust and 1400 N holding force. For lighter loads under 345 N thrust, drop to the 32 mm bore (600 N hold). This 40 mm bore uses 1/4 inch PT cylinder ports and a G1/8 enclasp port. The BSAID mounting set includes Basic, FA, LB, TC, TCM1, and TCM2 (omitting FB, CA, CB, CR). Because the stroke is 800 mm, an external guide is required to prevent excessive side-loading on the 16 mm rod. The clamp locks only after stopping and requires an independent safety measure for human-safety critical loads.
