Remember that holding force and thrust are distinct metrics: you must size the 1400 N clamp capacity against your static load, not the cylinder's 825 N thrust.
A core advantage of this bidirectional clamp is that it secures the load whether the rod was extending or retracting, but it only engages after the piston has stopped. It cannot brake a moving rod. The mechanism requires a third G1/8 enclasp port to release the lock, and pressures on both sides of the piston must be balanced during unlocking to prevent the rod from jumping abruptly. The variable air cushion at the stroke ends only decelerates the piston; it does not hold the load.
