A spring-applied, air-released enclasp gripper secures the carbon steel rod at any position along its 160 mm travel, delivering a static holding force of 1400 N. Because it is a double-rod design, thrust is equal in both directions at 825 N (0.5 MPa), and the second rod allows you to mount a position flag or secondary tool while providing dual-side guidance.

It is critical to distinguish holding force from cylinder thrust: the 1400 N clamp rating secures the static load, whereas the 825 N thrust moves the payload. The clamp operates via a third G1/8 enclasp port and requires 0.15-0.7 MPa to unlock. Remember that the variable air cushion only decelerates the piston near stroke end; the mechanical clamp is what actually holds the load. Furthermore, the clamp locks only after the rod stops and must be released with balanced pressures to prevent sudden rod jumping.

If your application only requires a standard single-rod lock, the BSAI50X160-S offers the same 1400 N hold without the second rod. This BSAID variant excels over a stroke-end-only SAIL cylinder because it grips anywhere along the travel. If you need a higher hold, stepping up to bore 63 provides a 2200 N holding force and 1402 N pull thrust.

For replacement, match the 50 mm bore, 160 mm stroke, PT port threads, and the double-rod layout. The correct mounting set for BSAID omits FB, CA, CB, and CR, accepting only Basic, FA, LB, TC, TCM1, and TCM2. The -S magnet works with AirTAC CMSE (reed) and DMSE (electronic) sensors.
