Remember that this holding force is a separate metric from thrust; you must size the clamp's 1400 N capacity against your actual static load, not the cylinder's push force.
A second rod is typically chosen to mount a workpiece on one end and a guide, counterweight, or position flag on the other, providing dual-side guidance and anti-rotation. The clamp mechanism uses a third G1/8 enclasp port—separate from the 1/4 cylinder ports—and requires balanced air pressure (0.15-0.7 MPa) to unlock safely. Note that the variable air cushion only decelerates the piston near stroke ends; the clamp is what actually holds the load.

Choose this BSAID model over a stroke-end-only SAIL lock when you must freeze the load mid-travel. If you only need standard movement without mid-stroke holding, a plain SAID cylinder suffices. For replacement, match the double-rod configuration, 50mm bore, 50mm stroke, PT thread ports, and the BSAID mounting set (Basic, FA, LB, TC, TCM1, TCM2), which omits FB, CA, CB, and CR. Without a -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE sensors cannot be fitted.
Always apply the clamp only after the rod has completely stopped, as it cannot brake a moving load. Unlock the clamp with balanced pressures on both sides of the piston to prevent abrupt rod movement. For safety-critical applications, an additional independent safety measure is required.
