Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X25

The AirTAC Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X25 is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder with a Ø200mm bore, 25mm stroke and a built-in spring-applied, air-released mechanical lock in the back cover — it holds the load at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end even when air is lost.

About the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X25

The AirTAC SAILB200X25 is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder equipped with a mechanical lock in the back cover. Because it is a SAILB configuration, the spring-applied, air-released lock engages when the piston reaches the retracted stroke end, firmly holding the carbon steel rod in place without requiring continuous live pressure. With a 200mm bore, it delivers substantial thrust—15708N push and 15080N pull at 0.5 MPa—making it ideal for heavy-duty power-failure safety applications.

Unlike a plain SAI cylinder, this model secures the load statically at the stroke terminal. The variable air cushion at the locker end is notably shorter, measuring 28mm compared to the 50mm cushion on the free end. To release the rod, you simply supply air to the release port for automatic unlocking or use the manual release lever.

How the Lock Holds

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.

The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the back-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Valve & safety notes: do not use a fast-exhaust valve with a lock cylinder; use an independent/individual-exhaust solenoid valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can release the lock. If human safety depends on the load staying held, add an independent safety measure.

Cylinder thrust is separate from the lock's holding capability. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure — size with a margin.

Where the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X25 Is Used

vertical_align_top

Vertical Lift Safety

Holds heavy lifted loads securely at the retracted stroke end during a power loss, preventing sudden drops.

shield

Heavy Clamp Hold

Maintains high clamping force without continuous air supply, saving energy while keeping the workpiece fixed.

build

Gate Positioning

Secures heavy industrial gates or doors in the closed position mechanically, releasing only when commanded.

Is the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X25 the Right Lock Cylinder?

Choose this 200mm bore if your application requires the maximum standard thrust class, delivering 15708N push at 0.5MPa; if you need less force, stepping down to a 160mm bore provides 10053N push at 0.5MPa. Select the SAILB variant when the load must be safely held in the retracted position, and choose SAILF if the extended end requires holding. If your application demands locking at an arbitrary mid-stroke position rather than the stroke end, the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder is the correct choice.

Remember that this lock is a static holding device, not a dynamic brake for a moving rod. Avoid using fast-exhaust valves, as back-pressure on the locker side can inadvertently release the lock; always use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve. If human safety depends on the load remaining retracted, add an independent safety measure. Replacement requires matching the 200mm bore, 25mm stroke, back locker position, 3/4 PT port, and your chosen mounting style.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Hold needed at the retracted (rod-in) end?
  • ✓ Or lock anywhere → use BSAI
  • ✓ Independent-exhaust valve fitted
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/G)
  • ✓ Extra safety measure for people

Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X25 FAQ

At 0.5 MPa, the SAILB200X25 provides 15708N of push force and 15080N of pull force. At the maximum operating pressure of 1.0 MPa, it delivers a maximum push force of 3204 kgf.

The lock is spring-applied and air-released, located in the back cover. It engages statically only when the rod reaches the retracted stroke end, holding the load without live pressure. It is not a mid-stroke clamp or dynamic brake; unlock it automatically via air release or manually via the lever.
