The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.
The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the back-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Step down to a 160mm bore if 10053N of push at 0.5MPa is sufficient, but keep this 200mm unit when maximum thrust is required. Choose this SAILB configuration when your machine must hold the load at the retracted rod-in position; select a SAILF variant instead if the extended rod-out end must be secured. If your application requires clamping at an arbitrary mid-stroke point rather than a stroke-end hold, use the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder instead. For a 500mm stroke, mounting must strictly manage side loads—use a FA or FB front-nose bracket combined with a guide rail to prevent rod binding.
This cylinder uses a 3/4 PT port and supports the full ISO 15552 mounting set (Basic, FA, FB, CA, CB, CR, LB, TC, FTC, TCM1, TCM2). Critical valve selection: never pair this cylinder with a fast-exhaust valve. You must use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve, because back-pressure on the locker side can inadvertently release the spring-applied lock. Finally, if human safety depends on the load remaining retracted, always add an independent mechanical safety measure beyond the cylinder's lock.
