The AirTAC SAILB200X800 is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a built-in mechanical lock in the back cover. A spring-applied, air-released lock engages automatically when the piston reaches the retracted stroke end, securely holding loads up to 15708N push at 0.5MPa without requiring live pressure. This power-loss safety mechanism is manually releasable and ideal for heavy vertical loads.
Unlike a mid-stroke clamp-lock, this static holding brake only engages at the stroke terminal. The 200mm bore uses a 3/4 PT port and a 40mm carbon steel rod. Note the locker end features a 28mm air cushion, shorter than the 50mm cushion on the free end, to physically accommodate the locking hardware.

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.
The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the back-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Cylinder thrust is separate from the lock's holding capability. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure — size with a margin.

Choose this 200mm bore for heavy loads requiring 15708N push at 0.5MPa; stepping down to a 160mm bore yields 10053N. Select SAILB to hold the rod in the retracted position, and SAILF to hold at the extended end. If your application requires locking at an arbitrary mid-stroke point, use the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder instead. This 800mm stroke exceeds typical compact lengths, so external guide shafts are recommended to prevent side-load wear on the seals. To replace, match bore, stroke, back locker position, PT ports, and add -S for CMSE or DMSE sensors. Avoid fast-exhaust valves; use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve to prevent back-pressure from releasing the lock.
