The variable air cushion at the locker end is notably shorter at 21mm compared to the 30mm cushion on the free end, a specific design concession to house the lock mechanism. The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.
The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the back-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Choose this 63mm bore when you need 1559N of thrust at 0.5 MPa; step down to a 50mm bore if 982N is sufficient, or step up to an 80mm bore for 2513N. Select this SAILB configuration specifically because the load must be held at the retracted stroke end. If your application requires clamping at an arbitrary mid-stroke position, select the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder instead.
For safe operation, avoid using a fast-exhaust valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can inadvertently release the lock; always use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve. Furthermore, if human safety depends on the load remaining retracted, add an independent mechanical safety measure. At a 1000mm stroke, the extended rod is highly susceptible to bending moments, so external guide rails are strongly recommended to prevent side-load damage. To replace this unit, match the 63mm bore, 1000mm stroke, back locker position, PT port thread, and -S magnet.
