The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the extended (rod-out) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.
The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the front-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Cylinder thrust is separate from the lock's holding capability. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure — size with a margin.

Choose this 100mm bore when a 63mm bore (1559N push at 0.5MPa) is insufficient for your extended-load holding requirements, or step down from a 125mm bore (6136N) to save space. Select the SAILF configuration specifically when the load must be secured in the rod-out position; if you need to hold the retracted position, choose the SAILB variant instead. Because the lock only engages at the stroke terminal, applications requiring intermediate clamping should use the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder instead.
For reliable operation, do not use a fast-exhaust valve with this cylinder; back-pressure on the locker side can inadvertently release the lock, so an independent-exhaust solenoid valve is required. If human safety depends on the load remaining extended, always add an independent secondary safety measure. When replacing this unit, match the 100mm bore, 300mm stroke, front locker position, PT port threads, and mounting type. For this 300mm stroke, ensure external guide rails are used to prevent excessive side-loading on the rod. Note that position sensing requires a magnet (-S option) to use CMSE reed or DMSE electronic switches.
