Airtac SAILF Front Locking Pneumatic Cylinder SAILF100X350

The AirTAC Airtac SAILF Front Locking Pneumatic Cylinder SAILF100X350 is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder with a Ø100mm bore, 350mm stroke and a built-in spring-applied, air-released mechanical lock in the front cover — it holds the load at the extended (rod-out) stroke end even when air is lost.

About the Airtac SAILF Front Locking Pneumatic Cylinder SAILF100X350

The AirTAC SAILF100X350 is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a spring-applied, air-released mechanical lock housed in the front cover. This mechanism secures the rod specifically at the extended stroke end, making it ideal for holding outward-reaching loads safely. In the 100mm bore class, it generates 3927N of push force and 3681N of pull force at 0.5 MPa.

Because the lock occupies the front end, the variable air cushion on that side is shortened to 24mm compared to the 36mm cushion on the free end. The cylinder uses a carbon steel rod with an M20x1.5 thread, and positioning sensors can be added to the dual side grooves using compatible CMSE or DMSE switches if a magnet is specified.

How the Lock Holds

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the extended (rod-out) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.

The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the front-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Valve & safety notes: do not use a fast-exhaust valve with a lock cylinder; use an independent/individual-exhaust solenoid valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can release the lock. If human safety depends on the load staying held, add an independent safety measure.

0.5 MPa3927 N3682 N

Cylinder thrust is separate from the lock's holding capability. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure — size with a margin.

Where the Airtac SAILF Front Locking Pneumatic Cylinder SAILF100X350 Is Used

vertical_align_top

Extended Load Lifting

Secures vertical lifts in the rod-out position, preventing collapse if air pressure drops during a power failure.

shield

Safety Gate Hold

Locks a guard or gate open at full extension without consuming live air, releasing only when control air is restored.

Outboard Clamp Hold

Maintains clamping force on outward-reaching tooling at the stroke end, cutting energy use during long cycle pauses.

Is the Airtac SAILF Front Locking Pneumatic Cylinder SAILF100X350 the Right Lock Cylinder?

Choose this 100mm bore when a 80mm cylinder (2513N push at 0.5 MPa) lacks the thrust for your extended-load holding task, or step down if a 63mm bore (1559N) is sufficient. Select the SAILF configuration when the load must be secured at the rod-out position; if you need to hold the retracted position, use a SAILB model instead. If your application requires clamping at an arbitrary mid-stroke point rather than the stroke terminal, the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder is the correct choice.

This lock is a static holding device that engages after the cylinder stops, not a dynamic brake for a moving rod. Avoid using fast-exhaust valves, as back-pressure on the locker side can unintentionally release the lock; utilize an independent-exhaust solenoid valve instead. For any human-safety critical lifting application, always add an independent mechanical safety measure. With a 350mm stroke, ensure adequate external guide support to prevent excessive side-loading on the rod. Replacement specifications: 100mm bore, 350mm stroke, front locker, PT 1/2 port, no standard magnet, and ISO 15552 mounting.

Airtac SAILF Front Locking Pneumatic Cylinder SAILF100X350 FAQ

At 0.5 MPa operating pressure, this 100mm bore cylinder provides 3927N of push force and 3681N of pull force. At 0.7 MPa, the push force increases to 5497N.

The lock is spring-applied and air-released, engaging only when the rod reaches the extended stroke end. It holds statically without live pressure and unlocks automatically via air supply or manually via a release lever.
