This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is SAUD40X100 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the SAUD40X100 in place of this model. The SAU replacement uses the same profile body, bore, stroke, force and SC-series mounting. It moves to the current CMSG / DMSG / EMSG sensor switches (the SU used CS1-B / DS1-B) and adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.

Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD40X100

The AirTAC Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD40X100 is a double-acting profile-type standard cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 100mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and adjustable end cushioning. This model is discontinued — the drop-in replacement is the SAUD40X100, which matches its bore, stroke, force and mounting.

About the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD40X100

The AirTAC SUD40X100 is a double-acting, double-rod profile cylinder featuring a 40mm bore and 100mm stroke. Because a rod exits both ends on a single piston, the push and pull force is equal both ways at 528 N @0.5 MPa, 739 N @0.7 MPa, and 950 N @0.9 MPa. This discontinued model uses an extruded aluminium profile barrel with a 1/4" port and M12x1.25 rod thread. The exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD40X100, which retains the same bore, stroke, force, port, and FA/LB mounting.

The dual-rod design prevents piston rotation and allows driving two tools simultaneously, while the compact profile body is shorter than standard cylinders of the same bore. For sizing, the computed safe working load is approximately 317 N (60% of the 528 N @0.5 figure), yielding a vertical lift capacity of about 27 kg with a 2:1 margin. Note this SKU has no magnet and cannot take a sensor. A plain cylinder does not hold loads on air loss; the 21mm adjustable cushion only decelerates near stroke end, so use an external rod lock for held loads.

Where the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD40X100 Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Dual-Tool Driving

Simultaneously actuates two separate grippers or end-effectors from one compact profile body using both extending rods.

straighten

Anti-Rotation Transfer

Moves a part across a short 100mm stroke with high torsional resistance, preventing piston rotation without external guides.

vertical_align_bottom

Balanced Vertical Press

Applies an equal 528 N clamping force on the downward and upward strokes for symmetrical forming or pressing tasks.

Replacing the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD40X100 with the SAUD40X100

To replace the discontinued SUD40X100, specify the SAUD40X100 as a direct drop-in retaining the 40mm bore, 100mm stroke, 1/4" port, and FA/LB mounting. When sizing both ways, verify the equal both ways force fits your needs: 528 N @0.5, 739 N @0.7, 950 N @0.9 MPa. If more force is required, step up to the 50mm bore; if less, the 32mm bore is the neighbour. A double rod is right when you need anti-rotation or must drive two tools. This non-magnetic SKU cannot take a sensor, but if upgrading a sensing variant, change legacy CS1-B/DS1-B switches to current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors. For strokes >=300mm, verify the side-load line to prevent guide wear. Mounting is compatible with the AirTAC SC series only.

Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD40X100 FAQ

Yes, the SUD40X100 is discontinued. The exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD40X100, which shares the same 40mm bore, 100mm stroke, equal both ways force, 1/4" port, and FA/LB mounting.

Force is equal both ways at 528 N @0.5 MPa, 739 N @0.7 MPa, and 950 N @0.9 MPa. Speed is 30-800 mm/s. The 1/4" port cylinder uses a 16mm rod with M12x1.25 thread.
