This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is SAUD40X75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the SAUD40X75 in place of this model. The SAU replacement uses the same profile body, bore, stroke, force and SC-series mounting. It moves to the current CMSG / DMSG / EMSG sensor switches (the SU used CS1-B / DS1-B) and adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.

The AirTAC Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD40X75 is a double-acting profile-type standard cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 75mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and adjustable end cushioning. This model is discontinued — the drop-in replacement is the SAUD40X75, which matches its bore, stroke, force and mounting.
The AirTAC SUD40X75 is a double-acting, double-rod profile cylinder featuring a 40mm bore and 75mm stroke. Because a rod exits both ends on one piston, both faces use the rod-side area, making push and pull force equal both ways (528N at 0.5MPa). This extruded aluminium profile barrel is more compact than an ISO 15552 cylinder of the same bore. This SUD40X75 model is discontinued; the exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD40X75, retaining the 1/4 inch port, M12x1.25 rod thread, and FA/LB mounting.
A key benefit of the double-rod design is anti-rotation, while the back rod can simultaneously drive a second tool. Without a magnetic piston, this SKU cannot take a switch. For sizing, the safe working load is roughly 317N (60% of the 528N at 0.5MPa figure), allowing a vertical lift of about 27kg with a 2:1 margin. Note that the air cushion only decelerates near stroke end; an external rod lock is required to hold loads on air loss.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC SU datasheet (now discontinued). The SAUD40X75 carries the same ratings. Confirm against the product label before installation. Thread options: PT / G / NPT.

The SAUD40X75 produces the same force from the same bore — a true drop-in on output. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Legacy SU-family variants: SUD (double rod), SUJ (adjustable stroke) — each maps to its SAU equivalent (SUD→SAUD, SUJ→SAUJ). The current SAU line adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.
Drives two opposing machining heads simultaneously from one piston, ensuring perfectly synchronized clamping and milling via its equal both ways force.
Uses the twin-rod geometry to prevent mechanical twist during rapid part diversion on a packaging line, maintaining strict lateral alignment.
Lifts shallow pallets in tight clearance cells where a standard cylinder is too long, providing a safe 27kg vertical lift capacity at 0.5MPa.
To replace the discontinued SUD40X75, order the SAUD40X75 drop-in, which matches the 40mm bore, 75mm stroke, 528N equal-both-ways force, and 1/4 inch port. When sizing both ways, verify if neighbouring bores (32mm or 50mm) meet the 528N requirement at 0.5MPa. Choose a double-rod cylinder when you need anti-rotation or must drive two tools from one piston. Mounting is limited to Basic, FA, and LB (SC-series compatible only). Because this SKU lacks a magnet, it cannot take sensors, but upgrading to the SAUD requires changing legacy CS1-B/DS1-B switches to current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors. For strokes of 300mm or longer, carefully manage side-load alignment to prevent guide wear.
Replacement checklist
Yes, the SUD40X75 is discontinued. The exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD40X75, which matches the 40mm bore, 75mm stroke, 1/4 inch port, and FA/LB mounting. You will need to upgrade any legacy sensors to the current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG series.
Because it is a double-rod cylinder, force is equal both ways: 528N at 0.5MPa, 739N at 0.7MPa, and 950N at 0.9MPa. It operates at 30-800mm/s, uses a 1/4 inch port, and features 21mm adjustable air cushions at each end.
