The integrated enclasp gripper locks the piston rod at any position along its 600 mm travel, providing a static holding force of 2200 N. It is crucial to distinguish this holding force from the cylinder thrust; you must size the 2200 N clamp capacity against your static load, not the 1402 N thrust. A third G1/8 enclasp port supplies the unlock pressure.
Because it is a double-rod design, you can mount a workpiece on one end and a position flag or secondary guide on the opposite end, utilizing the dual-side guidance for anti-rotation. The clamp locks bidirectionally but only after the cylinder has stopped; it cannot brake a moving rod. Note that the variable air cushion only decelerates the piston near the stroke ends, while the clamp itself performs the actual holding. If you need less force, the 50 mm bore offers 825 N thrust and a 1400 N hold; for more, the 80 mm bore provides 2268 N thrust and a 3600 N hold. Because this is a 600 mm stroke, the M16x1.5 rod provides good side-load capacity, but an external guide is still recommended for unsupported loads. Replacements must match the double rod, PT port threads, and the BSAID mounting set (Basic, FA, LB, TC, TCM1, TCM2), omitting FB/CA/CB/CR.
For safe operation, always balance the air pressures on both sides of the piston before unlocking. Releasing the clamp with unbalanced pressure will cause the rod to jump abruptly. If human safety depends on the hold, an additional independent safety measure is required, as the clamp is not a dynamic brake. Operating pressure is 0.15-0.7 MPa.
