It is crucial to distinguish this 900 N holding force from the cylinder's 528 N thrust; the clamp bears the static load, not the pneumatic pressure. Furthermore, the variable air cushion at the stroke ends only decelerates the piston and is not a holding device. The clamp engages via a separate G1/8 enclasp port, but locks only after the rod has completely stopped—it cannot brake a moving load.

Conversely, lighter duties can use the 32mm bore (600 N hold, 345 N pull). This BSAID variant is preferred over a stroke-end-only SAIL lock when you must freeze the load anywhere in the travel. A plain SAID suffices if no mid-stroke hold is needed.
For safe operation, unlock the clamp only when pressures on both sides of the piston are balanced to prevent abrupt rod jumps, and add independent safety measures for human-safety-critical loads. This BSAID40X100-S includes a magnet for CMSE reed and DMSE electronic sensors. It uses PT tapered ports (1/4 cylinder, G1/8 enclasp) and accepts Basic, FA, LB, TC, TCM1, or TCM2 mounts (omitting FB/CA/CB/CR due to the double-rod design).
