This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is SAUD50X15 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the SAUD50X15 in place of this model. The SAU replacement uses the same profile body, bore, stroke, force and SC-series mounting. It moves to the current CMSG / DMSG / EMSG sensor switches (the SU used CS1-B / DS1-B) and adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.

The AirTAC Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD50X15 is a double-acting profile-type standard cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 15mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and adjustable end cushioning. This model is discontinued — the drop-in replacement is the SAUD50X15, which matches its bore, stroke, force and mounting.
The AirTAC SUD50X15 is a double-acting, double-rod profile cylinder that is officially discontinued; the exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD50X15, sharing the same 50mm bore, 15mm stroke, 1/4" port, and FA/LB mounting. Because a rod exits both ends on one piston, both faces use the rod-side area, making push and pull force equal at 825 N @0.5 MPa, 1154 N @0.7 MPa, and 1484 N @0.9 MPa. The extruded aluminum profile barrel is shorter than an ISO 15552 cylinder of the same bore. This SKU has no magnet (-S omitted), so it cannot take a magnetic switch, though the SAUD upgrade uses current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors instead of the legacy CS1-B/DS1-B.
The dual-rod design prevents piston rotation and allows the back rod to drive a second tool simultaneously. For sizing, the 825 N @0.5 MPa force yields a safe working load of about 495 N (60% margin) and a vertical lift capacity of roughly 42 kg with a 2:1 safety factor. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa with a 21mm adjustable air cushion at each end. Note that a plain cylinder does not hold loads on air loss—the cushion only decelerates near stroke end, so use an external rod lock for held loads.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC SU datasheet (now discontinued). The SAUD50X15 carries the same ratings. Confirm against the product label before installation. Thread options: PT / G / NPT.

The SAUD50X15 produces the same force from the same bore — a true drop-in on output. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Legacy SU-family variants: SUD (double rod), SUJ (adjustable stroke) — each maps to its SAU equivalent (SUD→SAUD, SUJ→SAUJ). The current SAU line adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.
Drives two separate operations simultaneously from one piston, using the front and back rods to push opposing tools with equal 825 N force at 0.5 MPa.
The dual-rod geometry prevents piston twist during short 15mm clamping or positioning movements where rotational stability is critical.
Transfers workpieces on a line where the return stroke must apply the same 1154 N @0.7 MPa push force as the forward stroke to maintain consistent tension.
To replace the discontinued SUD50X15, order the drop-in SAUD50X15, which matches the 50mm bore, 15mm stroke, 1/4" port, M16x1.5 rod thread, and FA/LB mounting. Choose a double-rod cylinder when you need equal force both ways, anti-rotation stability, or a back rod to drive a second mechanism. Because this SKU lacks a magnet, you cannot mount sensors; if sensing is required, select an SAUD with the -S option and use CMSG/DMSG/EMSG switches instead of the old CS1-B/DS1-B. If you need higher force, the neighboring 63mm bore provides 1402 N @0.5 MPa both ways. For side-load limits on strokes >=300mm, confirm the bearing capacity from the official datasheet.
Replacement checklist
Yes, the SUD50X15 is discontinued. The exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD50X15, which shares the same 50mm bore, 15mm stroke, 1/4" port, and FA/LB mounting. The SAUD also uses current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors instead of the legacy CS1-B/DS1-B.
Because it is a double-rod cylinder, force is equal both ways: 825 N @0.5 MPa, 1154 N @0.7 MPa, and 1484 N @0.9 MPa. The air port is 1/4". This yields a safe working load of roughly 495 N and a vertical lift capacity of about 42 kg with a 2:1 margin.
