The AirTAC BSE50X500 is a double-acting, single-rod ISO 15552 profile cylinder with an integrated spring-applied, air-released rod lock. It delivers a bidirectional static holding force of 1400 N with zero live air required to maintain the clamp. Operating pressure is capped at 0.15-0.7 MPa.
A separate G1/8 release port unlocks the internal collet, meaning the air cushions are not responsible for holding the load. Because this SKU lacks the -S magnet option, it does not support CMSE or DMSE position sensors. The lock engages only after the piston rod stops completely.

Verify your suspended load does not exceed the 1400 N fail-safe holding force. If you need less holding power, the 40 mm bore neighbor provides 628 N push at 0.5 MPa and 900 N hold; stepping up to the 63 mm bore yields 1559 N push at 0.5 MPa and 2200 N hold.
At 500 mm stroke, the extended rod is highly susceptible to side loads, so a dedicated external guide bearing is strongly recommended to prevent premature seal wear. To release the clamp safely, balance pressures on both sides of the piston and wait at least 0.5 seconds before commanding motion. This unit uses a PT1/4 cylinder port, a PT thread form, and accepts all SE mounting accessories except FTC.
