The AirTAC SAILF100X900-S is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder equipped with a spring-applied, air-released mechanical lock in the front cover. This mechanism engages automatically to hold the rod securely at the extended stroke end whenever the release air is cut, ensuring your load remains safely positioned without consuming live pressure. Generating 5497N of push force at 0.7MPa, it features a carbon steel rod and a built-in magnet for position sensing.

Because the lock physically occupies the front end, the variable air cushion on that locker side is shorter at 24mm compared to the 36mm cushion on the free end. The integrated magnet works seamlessly with AirTAC CMSE reed and DMSE electronic solid-state sensors for precise end-of-stroke detection. You can unlock the rod automatically by supplying air to the release port, or manually via the release lever.

How the Lock Holds

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the extended (rod-out) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.

The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the front-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Valve & safety notes: do not use a fast-exhaust valve with a lock cylinder; use an independent/individual-exhaust solenoid valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can release the lock. If human safety depends on the load staying held, add an independent safety measure.

Remember that this lock is a static holding device that engages only after the piston stops at the stroke terminal—it will not clamp a rod at an arbitrary mid-stroke point, which requires a BSAI clamp-lock cylinder instead.

For reliable operation, avoid using fast-exhaust valves, as back-pressure on the locker side can inadvertently release the lock; always use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve.
