The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the extended (rod-out) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.
The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the front-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Choose this 100mm bore when an 80mm cylinder (providing 3518N push at 0.7MPa) lacks the thrust for your vertical lift, but a 125mm bore is oversized. This SAILF variant is specified when the load must be held at the extended rod-out position; select a SAILB model instead if your safety hold is required at the retracted position. Remember that this lock is a static holding device that engages only after the piston stops at the stroke terminal—it will not clamp a rod at an arbitrary mid-stroke point, which requires a BSAI clamp-lock cylinder instead.
For reliable operation, avoid using fast-exhaust valves, as back-pressure on the locker side can inadvertently release the lock; always use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve. If human safety depends on the load staying elevated, add an independent safety measure. With a 900mm stroke, guide the load properly to prevent excessive side-loading on the carbon steel rod.
