This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is SAUD63X175 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the SAUD63X175 in place of this model. The SAU replacement uses the same profile body, bore, stroke, force and SC-series mounting. It moves to the current CMSG / DMSG / EMSG sensor switches (the SU used CS1-B / DS1-B) and adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.

Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X175

The AirTAC Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X175 is a double-acting profile-type standard cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 175mm stroke, 3/8" air ports and adjustable end cushioning. This model is discontinued — the drop-in replacement is the SAUD63X175, which matches its bore, stroke, force and mounting.

About the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X175

The AirTAC SUD63X175 is a double-acting, double-rod profile cylinder featuring a 63mm bore and 175mm stroke. Because a rod exits both ends on one piston, both faces use the rod-side area, making push and pull force equal at 1402 N @0.5 MPa, 1962 N @0.7 MPa, and 2523 N @0.9 MPa. This discontinued model is directly replaced by the SAUD63X175, retaining the exact 3/8" port, M16x1.5 rod thread, and FA/LB mounting. The extruded aluminum profile barrel is shorter than an ISO 15552 cylinder of the same bore.

This SKU has no magnet (-S omitted) and cannot take a magnetic switch. The double-rod design prevents piston rotation and allows driving two tools simultaneously. For buyers, the safe working load is roughly 841 N (60% of the 0.5 MPa force), yielding a vertical lift capacity of about 71 kg with a 2:1 margin. Note that air cushions only decelerate near stroke end; an external rod lock is required for load holding.

Where the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X175 Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Dual-Tool Machining Station

Drives two opposing machining heads simultaneously with equal push and pull force, maintaining precise synchronization without adding a separate cylinder.

conveyor_belt

Anti-Rotation Transfer Gate

Uses the double-rod geometry to prevent piston rotation during lateral load transfers, ensuring the gate mechanism moves smoothly without binding.

warehouse

Symmetric Clamping Fixture

Clamps parts from both ends using the equal force both ways, providing balanced 1402 N @0.5 MPa holding pressure on opposing sides of a workpiece.

Replacing the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X175 with the SAUD63X175

To replace the discontinued SUD63X175, use the drop-in SAUD63X175, which matches the 63mm bore, 175mm stroke, 3/8" port, and FA/LB mounting. When sizing both ways, verify the equal push/pull force of 1402 N @0.5 MPa is sufficient, or step to the 80mm bore if more force is needed. Choose a double-rod cylinder when anti-rotation or driving two tools is required. Since this non-magnetic SKU lacks sensors, the SAUD upgrade requires current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors instead of the legacy CS1-B/DS1-B. For this 175mm stroke, ensure side-load alignment to prevent guide wear.

Replacement checklist

Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X175 FAQ

Yes, the SUD63X175 is discontinued. The exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD63X175, which matches the 63mm bore, 175mm stroke, 3/8" port, and FA/LB mounting. The SAUD also uses current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors instead of the legacy CS1-B/DS1-B.

The 3/8" ported SUD63X175 provides equal force both ways: 1402 N @0.5 MPa, 1962 N @0.7 MPa, and 2523 N @0.9 MPa. It does not hold loads on air loss; the 21mm adjustable cushion only decelerates near stroke end, so use an external rod lock for held loads.
