How the Lock Holds

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the extended (rod-out) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.

The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the front-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Valve & safety notes: do not use a fast-exhaust valve with a lock cylinder; use an independent/individual-exhaust solenoid valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can release the lock. If human safety depends on the load staying held, add an independent safety measure.

Choose this 100mm bore cylinder when your application requires 5497N push force at 0.7MPa and needs the load held securely at the extended stroke end. If your force requirements are lower, the 80mm bore provides 3518N at 0.7MPa; if you need more power, the 125mm bore offers 8590N. Select SAILF to hold the rod in the extended position, and SAILB to hold it retracted. If you need to arrest the load at an arbitrary mid-stroke position rather than the stroke terminal, select the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder instead.

The SAILF lock is a static holding device that engages after the cylinder stops, not a dynamic brake for a moving rod. Never use a fast-exhaust valve with this lock cylinder, as back-pressure on the locker side can accidentally release the lock; always use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve. For human safety or lifting applications where failure is critical, add an independent safety measure.
