This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE20X20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE20X20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP20X20 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 20mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE20X20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP20X20 uses air to extend the rod and an internal spring to retract it, so only one air line is needed. This 20 mm bore, 20 mm stroke unit delivers 127.4 N of push at 0.5 MPa (190.2 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring, and needs just 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. Note: the ASP family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE20X20 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures, small clamping modules and guarded assemblies. At 0.5 MPa plan on about 76 N (roughly 7.7 kg) of usable vertical work, or halve the 12.9 kg force-equivalent for a 2:1 margin when lifting. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the rod end is female M6x1.0 with an M5x0.8 air port.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE20X20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 127.4 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 190.2 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×20 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 127.4 N push at 0.5 MPa seats nylon bushings or dowel pins into plastic housings on a bench-top assembly press, with the spring clearing the tooling between cycles.
Holds a machined aluminum bracket against a jig stop during a drilling pass; if air drops, the spring retracts and releases the part instead of trapping it.
Pushes a guard-door latch closed on a compact packaging machine; with the -S magnet ordered, a DMSE switch confirms the latched position.
Size down to ASP16X20 if 78.4 N at 0.5 MPa covers the load, or step up to ASP25X20 for 210.1 N. Because the spring retracts the rod on air loss, the ASP20X20 returns to its home position rather than holding a mid-stroke load. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant to enable CMSE / DMSE switches; this plain code has no magnet. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings are available. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ASE20X20 replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes with 127.4 N, rising to 190.2 N at 0.7 MPa; both figures are net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa, the range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure is 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and speed runs 50-500 mm/s on air filtered to 40 um. The rod is 10 mm with a female M6x1.0 thread and the port is M5x0.8.
No - the ASP20X20 is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ASE20X20 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 20 mm bore, 20 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ASP was built to a DIN-standard footprint.
