AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE20X20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE20X20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP20X20B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 20mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE20X20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP20X20B uses air to extend its 10 mm rod and an internal spring to retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing it needs. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 127.4 N of push already net of the spring, rising to 190.2 N at 0.7 MPa, and it needs at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. The 20 mm stroke sits well inside the standard range for this bore.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures and guarded assemblies. In practice, plan on about 76 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 6 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ASE20X20, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The male rod thread (B code) bolts to I/Y knuckles, and the fixed TPU bumper at both ends simply decelerates the rod.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 127.4 N push at 0.5 MPa seats small screw caps on cosmetic bottles in a 20 mm press stroke, and the spring retracts the head the moment air is cut.
A male-threaded rod with an I/Y knuckle clamps circuit boards into a test nest; the compact body fits where a full-length profile cylinder would overhang the fixture.
Ejects sample vials from an analyzer tray with about 6 kg of vertical lift capability, then the return spring clears the path for the next vial.
Size up if 127.4 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal: the 25 mm bore pushes 210.1 N at the same pressure. Size down to the 16 mm bore (78.4 N) only for very light loads. Because the spring retracts the rod to its home position on air loss, this cylinder cannot hold a mid-stroke position. If you need position sensing, order the -S code to add the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches; this version has no magnet. For new designs, specify the ASE20X20 instead and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.

A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod at the ends of travel only; it never locks or holds a load, and on air loss the spring simply returns the rod home.
