This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE20X25B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE20X25B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP20X25B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE20X25B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder, the ASP20X25B extends its 10 mm rod with air and retracts by return spring, so one air line is all the plumbing a 20 mm bore station needs. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 127.4 N net of the spring, and 190.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures and guarding. Note the family is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ASE20X25.
Practical sizing: plan on roughly 76 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 6 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and a male rod thread (the B code) on a PT port of M5x0.8. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 0.2 MPa the minimum to beat the spring, speed 50-500 mm/s, and air filtered to 40 um. No magnet is fitted on this code; order the optional -S magnet if you later want CMSE or DMSE switches.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE20X25B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 127.4 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 190.2 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 127.4 N push at 0.5 MPa seats small screw caps on cosmetic bottles in a 25 mm stroke, and the spring retracts the head instantly when the line vents.
A single air line clamps circuit boards into a test nest; the compact body fits under the fixture lid where a full-length cylinder would not.
Ejects sample vials from a carousel pocket with about 6 kg of vertical lift capacity at 0.5 MPa, returning to home position between cycles.
Compare forces at 0.5 MPa: the 16 mm bore gives 78.4 N, this 20 mm bore gives 127.4 N, and stepping up to 25 mm reaches 210.1 N, so pick the 20 mm when your part weight sits between those bands. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position. Mount with FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis to the compact face, and add the -S code only if CMSE/DMSE sensing is planned. For new builds, order the ASE20X25 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
Push is 127.4 N at 0.5 MPa and 190.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, speed 50-500 mm/s, port M5x0.8, rod 10 mm with male thread, and a 25 mm stroke.
No, the ASP family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ASE20X25, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, and if you need position sensing, order the -S magnet code so CMSE or DMSE switches can be fitted.
