AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE25X10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X10SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE25X10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP25X10SB uses shop air to extend the rod and an internal spring to pull it back home, so only one air line is needed. At 0.5 MPa the 25 mm bore delivers 210.1 N of push already net of the spring (308.3 N at 0.7 MPa), and 0.2 MPa is the minimum pressure needed to beat the spring. The male rod thread (B code) and the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches make it easy to wire position feedback into a compact fixture.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs, guarding and gantries. In practice, plan on roughly 126 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rating), which lifts around 6 kg vertically - halve that for a 2:1 margin and match it to your part weight. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ASE25X10, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 210.1 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small dowels or snap-fit caps in an electronics assembly jig, with the 10 mm stroke matching a short press travel.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the rod is extended before the carton erector releases the next blank.
Spring return guarantees the eject pin retracts the moment air is lost, clearing the mould area without a second valve port.
Size the bore against your load: at 0.5 MPa the smaller 20 mm bore pushes 127.4 N while the 32 mm bore reaches 352.5 N, so the 25 mm at 210.1 N sits squarely between them for light clamping and eject duties. Remember the spring drives the rod fully home on air loss - it will not hold a mid-stroke position. If you need a flange, foot or clevis, the FA/FB, LB and CA/CB brackets bolt straight to the face; order the ASE25X10 as the current drop-in successor.
