This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE25X20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE25X20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20B

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 20mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE25X20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20B

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the discontinued ASP25X20B extends its 10 mm rod with air and retracts it by spring, so one air line is all the plumbing needs. At 0.5 MPa the 25 mm bore delivers 210.1 N of push already net of the spring, rising to 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, and it starts moving from just 0.2 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body cuts roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into cramped fixture plates and sliding guards.

This B-coded version carries a male rod thread and a PT port, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end that decelerates the rod without any adjustment. Plan on about 126 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which is roughly 12 kg of usable push, and note the spring returns the rod home on air loss rather than holding a mid-stroke position. The ASP family is no longer produced: the current drop-in is the ASE25X20, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. If you need position sensing, order the -S code, since the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches and the standard build ships without a magnet.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE25X20B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø25mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa308.3 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20B Is Used

compress

Bottle-capping press head

A 210.1 N push at 0.5 MPa seats snap caps on 250 ml cosmetic bottles, and the spring pulls the head clear the moment the valve vents.

widgets

PCB fixture eject pin

The 20 mm stroke kicks finished circuit boards off a test nest on an electronics line, with one M5x0.8 air connection feeding the single acting circuit.

packaging

Carton flap tucker

On a small box-forming station, the rod pushes the trailing flap closed at about 126 N of practical force before the spring retracts it for the next carton.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20B with the ASE25X20B

Size against neighbours: the 20 mm bore pushes 127.4 N at 0.5 MPa while the 32 mm bore reaches 352.5 N, so pick ASP25X20B when your clamp or eject needs sit between those two. With a 20 mm stroke and a male rod thread, it suits short-throw pushers where a knuckle or custom nut threads onto the rod. Remember the spring, not air, does the return, so it cannot park mid-stroke under control. Foot, flange and clevis brackets bolt to the same face, and the -S magnet option adds CMSE / DMSE sensing. For new projects, order the ASE25X20 instead, as this model is discontinued.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE25X20B
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20B FAQ

Push force is 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring, so those are the figures you can plan on. It is a single acting push cylinder: air extends the 10 mm rod from 0.2 MPa upward, and the spring retracts it on exhaust, driving it fully home if air is lost. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, speed 50-500 mm/s, and the fixed TPU bumpers simply decelerate the ends without locking the load.

The short ISO 21287-class aluminium body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits shallow fixtures and guarded zones. Sensing is not included by default: order the -S code to get the optional -S magnet, which lets CMSE or DMSE switches read end positions. FA/FB flanges, LB feet and CA/CB clevises bolt straight on. Since ASP25X20B is discontinued, the current-production swap is the ASE25X20 - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before converting.
