This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE25X20S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE25X20S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20S

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 20mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE25X20S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20S

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP25X20S uses compressed air to extend its 10 mm rod and an internal spring to retract it, so only one air line is needed. This discontinued 25 mm bore model delivers 210.1 N of push at 0.5 MPa, already net of the spring, and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 class compact build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, ideal for tight jigs and guards.

The S code means the optional magnet is fitted on this unit, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the rod carries a female M6x1.0 thread, and the port is M5x0.8. In practice, plan for roughly 126 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 10 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Since the ASP is discontinued, order the ASE25X20 as the current-production replacement and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE25X20S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø25mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa308.3 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20S Is Used

compress

Fixture clamping on CNC jigs

The 210.1 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps small aluminium brackets in a drilling fixture, and the spring retracts the plunger the moment the valve vents, freeing the part automatically.

sensors

Position confirmation in assembly stations

With the fitted magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches verify that the 20 mm push stroke is complete before a screwdriver or press cycle starts.

packaging

Ejecting parts from small chutes

A single air line nudges finished components off a conveyor edge or out of a nest; the spring return keeps the pusher clear between cycles at up to 500 mm/s.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20S with the ASE25X20S

Size by force: the 25 mm bore gives 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa; step down to a 20 mm bore (127.4 N) for lighter clamping or up to a 32 mm bore (352.5 N) when the load needs more margin. The 20 mm stroke sits within the standard range for this bore. Remember that on air loss the spring drives the rod home, so the cylinder will not hold a mid-stroke position. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting to your fixture, and keep the -S magnet in the code if CMSE / DMSE switching is required. For new projects, specify the ASE25X20 instead, as the ASP is no longer in production.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE25X20S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20S FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes with 210.1 N, rising to 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa; both figures are net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 0.2 MPa as the minimum to beat the spring, proof pressure is 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed range is 50-500 mm/s, and the fluid must be air filtered to 40 um. The rod is 10 mm with a female M6x1.0 thread and the port is M5x0.8.

Order the ASE25X20, the current-production ISO 21287 replacement: swap the P for an E and you get the same 25 mm bore, 20 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ASP was built to a DIN-standard compact format, and re-check the FA/FB, LB or CA/CB mounting interface.
