This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE25X20SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE25X20SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20SB

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 20mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE25X20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20SB

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP25X20SB uses a 25 mm bore and 20 mm stroke: air extends the 10 mm rod and the internal spring pulls it back home, so only one air line is needed. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 210.1 N of push net of the spring (308.3 N at 0.7 MPa), and it starts working from just 0.2 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 compact format, saving roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which makes it easy to tuck into tight jigs and guarding. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be fitted for end-of-stroke sensing.

Note that the ASP family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ASE25X20, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. For sizing, treat about 126 N (roughly 12 kg of push) as the realistic working output at 0.5 MPa, and expect the rod to lift about 10 kg vertically once a 2:1 margin is applied. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod, and the B code gives a male rod thread for direct linkage attachment.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE25X20SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø25mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa308.3 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20SB Is Used

packaging

Blister tray ejection

A 20 mm push stroke with 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa ejects formed blister trays from a small forming nest, and the spring return clears the rod without a second valve.

precision_manufacturing

Fixture part clamping

Clamps small aluminium brackets in a drilling fixture; the compact body fits inside the jig wall where a full-length profile cylinder would not.

sensors

Indexed pusher with sensing

Pushes cartons onto a conveyor lane from a stop; the -S magnet lets a DMSE switch confirm full extension before the lane gate opens.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20SB with the ASE25X20SB

Size by force: if 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your load, step up to the 32 mm bore (352.5 N); if the load is light and space is very tight, the 20 mm bore gives 127.4 N in a smaller body. Remember the spring retracts the rod on air loss, so the cylinder returns to its home position rather than holding a mid-stroke pose. Mounting brackets from the FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis family bolt to the standard face, and the -S magnet on this unit accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ASE25X20 as the current replacement.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE25X20SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X20SB FAQ

Push is 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Operating pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed range 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um, and an M5x0.8 port. Air extends the rod; the spring retracts it.

Order the ASE25X20, the current-production successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 25 mm bore, 20 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 compact format. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, and keep the male rod thread (B code) in mind when reusing linkages.
