This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE25X25SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE25X25SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25SB

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE25X25SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25SB

The ASP25X25SB is a single acting compact cylinder, DIN-standard short-body format: 25 mm bore, 25 mm stroke, male rod thread and PT port thread. Air extends the rod and an internal return spring retracts it, so only one air line is needed and the rod sits retracted whenever pressure drops below 0.2 MPa. Push force is 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, already net of the spring. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE25X25 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs, guarding and gantries. The S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke signalling. As a buyer shortcut: at 0.5 MPa plan on roughly 126 N (about 12.8 kg) of usable push, and halve the 21.4 kg vertical-lift equivalent to about 10.7 kg for a 2:1 margin when matching a real part weight.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE25X25SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø25mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)
0.5 MPa210.1 N
0.7 MPa308.3 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25SB Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Fixture clamping on CNC jigs

A single air line clamps small aluminium brackets with 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa; spring retraction clears the part the moment pressure is lost.

sensors

Signalled ejection on packaging lines

The fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE or DMSE switches, so a PLC confirms each 25 mm eject stroke at up to 500 mm/s.

build

Slide push on electronics test rigs

About 10.7 kg of vertical-lift margin at a 2:1 factor nudges PCB trays into test nests; the fixed TPU bumper quiets both stroke ends.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25SB with the ASE25X25SB

Size by force first: at 0.5 MPa this 25 mm bore delivers 210.1 N net of the spring. If your load needs less, the 20 mm bore gives 127.4 N; if it needs more, step up to the 32 mm bore at 352.5 N. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position. The male rod thread (B code) suits I/Y rod knuckles, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the same face. For replacement, order the ASE25X25 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since this DIN-standard body differs from the current ISO family.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE25X25SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25SB FAQ

Push force is 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, already net of the return spring. Operating pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof rating; below 0.2 MPa the spring wins and the rod retracts. Speed range is 50-500 mm/s, fluid is air filtered to 40 um, and temperature spans -20 to +70 C.

The short-body build saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches clamp to the body for end-of-stroke detection. The model is discontinued; the ASE25X25 is the current drop-in, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap.
