This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE50X10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE50X10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X10

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X10 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 10mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE50X10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X10

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP50X10 uses compressed air to extend the rod and an internal spring to retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing takes. At the 50 mm bore it delivers 875.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa (1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa), figures already net of the return spring, and it needs at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. The body is a hard-anodized aluminium compact build whose short form saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixture plates and guarded assemblies.

Practical sizing: treat about 525 N (roughly 53 kg) as the usable working push at 0.5 MPa, so vertically it lifts a part of about 26 kg with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends to soften end-of-travel contact. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ASE50X10 (swap the P for an E), which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. If position feedback matters, order the optional -S magnet code, which enables CMSE / DMSE switches; without -S there is no magnet fitted.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE50X10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø50mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa1268.2 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X10 Is Used

compress

Bottle capping press

The 875.5 N push at 0.5 MPa seats caps on 500 ml beverage bottles, and the spring return clears the head instantly when the air valve closes.

widgets

PCB fixture clamp

A 10 mm stroke clamps circuit boards into a test jig; the compact short body fits inside the fixture frame where a full-length cylinder cannot.

packaging

Carton kick-off ejector

Kicks small cartons off a packaging conveyor lane; on air loss the spring retracts the rod so the lane stays clear for the next box.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X10 with the ASE50X10

At 875.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, the 50 mm bore sits between the 40 mm (556.8 N) and 63 mm (1420.5 N) sizes - step down if your load is under 500 N, step up if you want more headroom at 0.5 MPa. The 10 mm stroke is a short standard stroke, well inside the 250 mm maximum for this bore. Remember the spring returns the rod home on air loss; it will not hold a mid-stroke position. Mounting options include FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis, and the optional -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, specify the ASE50X10 instead, since the ASP is discontinued.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE50X10
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X10 FAQ

It is a single acting push, spring-return cylinder: push is 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Operating pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 0.2 MPa as the minimum to beat the spring, proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, and temperature -20 to +70 C. Air must be filtered to 40 um.

The hard-anodized aluminium compact body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the standard face. Sensors are possible only with the optional -S magnet code, which lets CMSE / DMSE switches ride the body; without -S there is no magnet. This model is discontinued - the ASE50X10 is the current drop-in, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
