This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE50X10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE50X10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X10S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 10mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE50X10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP50X10S is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 16 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so only one air line is needed and the rod sits retracted whenever pressure drops below 0.2 MPa. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 875.5 N of push net of the spring, rising to 1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The -S code means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body.
This is a discontinued DIN-standard compact model. The current-production drop-in is the ISO 21287 ASE50X10 - same bore, stroke and force class - so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in tight jigs and guards. For sizing: treat roughly 525 N (about 53 kg) as the usable push at 0.5 MPa, and with a 2:1 margin it lifts about 44 kg vertically.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE50X10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 875.5 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 1268.2 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 50 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×10 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 875.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps aluminium housings in a 10 mm-stroke drill fixture, and the spring clears the part the moment air is released.
A short 10 mm nudge squares cartons against the back stop of a case packer; one solenoid valve controls the whole cycle at 50-500 mm/s.
With the fitted magnet and a DMSE switch, the retracted and extended ends are confirmed electronically before the inspection cycle starts.
Size both ways before ordering: the ASP40X10S gives 556.8 N at 0.5 MPa if the load is lighter, while the ASP63X10S reaches 1420.5 N for heavier clamping. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss, so this cylinder cannot hold a mid-stroke position - pick a double-acting ACE if you need that. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the same face, and the fitted magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ASE50X10 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
It is a single acting push, spring-return cylinder. Push is 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the air must be filtered to 40 um. The 1/8" port depends only on the 50 mm bore, and the rod carries a female M10x1.5 thread.
Order the ASE50X10, the ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same bore, stroke and force class in current production. Because the ASP was DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and your FA/FB, LB or CA/CB bracket fit before the swap. The -S magnet on this unit carries over as an option on the ASE, again using CMSE / DMSE switches.
