This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE50X15 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE50X15 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X15 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 15mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE50X15 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP50X15 is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 16 mm rod and the internal spring pulls it back home, so only one air line is needed. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 875.5 N of push, already net of the spring, rising to 1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof rating, and the rod starts moving once supply reaches 0.2 MPa. Note that this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE50X15, same bore, stroke and force class.
Built as a DIN-standard compact body in hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod, the short frame saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight clamping fixtures and slide units. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. For planning, expect roughly 525 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa, enough to lift about 44 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Confirm from datasheet before swapping in the ASE50X15, and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE50X15 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 875.5 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 1268.2 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 50 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×15 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 15 mm clamp stroke with 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa holds an aluminium pump housing against a jig locator on a machining center fixture.
The short compact body fits inside the die shoe, pushing finished brass fittings off the nest in one 15 mm stroke at up to 500 mm/s.
About 525 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa seats small ball bearings into plastic gearbox end caps on a light assembly press.
Size against the load: the 50 mm bore gives 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa, while a 40 mm bore offers 556.8 N and a 63 mm bore reaches 1420.5 N at the same pressure. Keep the working load near 525 N so the spring return always wins on exhaust. The 15 mm stroke is a standard length for this bore, and the female M10x1.5 rod thread takes standard rod knuckles. Mount with FA/FB flange or LB foot brackets, and if you need position feedback, order the -S code to enable CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, specify the ASE50X15 instead.
Replacement checklist
Push is 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. The cylinder is single acting: air extends the rod, the spring retracts it, and on air loss the rod returns to the retracted home position. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa, range 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, port 1/8" PT, rod thread M10x1.5 female.
Order the ASE50X15, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 50 mm bore, 15 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ASP follows the DIN-standard compact footprint. The optional -S magnet code carries over if you run CMSE / DMSE switches.
