This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE50X15S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE50X15S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X15S

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X15S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 15mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE50X15S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X15S

Single acting push cylinder of DIN-standard compact design: compressed air extends the 16 mm rod and an internal return spring retracts it, so one air line is all the plumbing needs. At the 50 mm bore this version delivers 875.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa (1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa), figures already net of the spring, with a minimum working pressure of 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. The S in the code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke signalling.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures, slides and guarding. In practice the 875.5 N rating supports about 525 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, or lifts roughly 45 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for a loaded aluminium jig plate or a small stacking head. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ASE50X15, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE50X15S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X15S Is Used

packaging

Carton hold-down clamp

Springs down a flap or lid on a semi-auto case sealer between cycles; the 875.5 N push at 0.5 MPa seats the flap and the spring retracts the platen the moment air drops.

precision_manufacturing

Fixture part ejector

Kicks a machined aluminium bracket off its locating pin on a small CNC fixture; the 15 mm stroke is enough to break the part free and the single air line keeps the manifold simple.

sensors

Presence check with signalling

Because the -S magnet is fitted, a CMSE switch on the body confirms the probe reached the part on a plastics assembly line, cutting scrap from unseated components.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X15S with the ASE50X15S

Size against the load: at 0.5 MPa the 50 mm bore pushes 875.5 N net of the spring. If your load needs less than about 352 N, the 32 mm bore (352.5 N) saves space; if you need more than 875 N, step up to the 63 mm bore at 1420.5 N. The 15 mm stroke is short and spring-returned, so the rod always homes to retracted on air loss and cannot hold a mid-stroke position. This unit has the -S magnet fitted for CMSE / DMSE switches; FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mounts plus a female M10x1.5 rod thread cover standard fixturing. Since ASP is discontinued, specify ASE50X15 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE50X15S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X15S FAQ

Push is 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. It is single acting: air extends the rod, the spring retracts it, and on air loss the rod returns to its retracted home position - it does not hold a mid-stroke load. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, port 1/8" (PT).

The short-body build saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits shallow jigs and guarding. ASP50X15S is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ASE50X15 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The fixed TPU bumpers at each end decelerate the rod only; they never lock or brake a load.
