AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE50X20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE50X20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X20B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE50X20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 16 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so the ASP50X20B needs only one air line and rests normally retracted. This 50 mm bore delivers 875.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa (1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring. It is discontinued, and the current-production replacement is the ASE50X20, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ASP follows the DIN-standard compact format.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Practical sizing: plan on about 525 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting roughly 26 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to I/Y knuckles, and a fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod. Note there is no magnet fitted on this code - the optional -S version enables CMSE / DMSE switches.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 20 mm stroke and 875.5 N push at 0.5 MPa slide a formed carton off a magazine in one quick hit, and the spring pulls the platen back the moment air vents.
About 26 kg of vertical clamping equivalent with a 2:1 margin holds an aluminium housing against a hard stop; the short body tucks under the chuck guard where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
Air extends the male-thread rod to kick an underfilled bottle onto the reject chute; on air loss the spring retracts it clear of passing containers.
At 875.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this bore sits between the 40 mm size (556.8 N) and the 63 mm size (1420.5 N), so step down when the load is under about 550 N and step up when it approaches 1400 N. The spring returns the rod home on air loss but will not hold a mid-stroke position, so add external stops if you need positive location. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring; speed range is 50-500 mm/s. Mount with FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis, and order the -S code if position sensing with CMSE / DMSE switches is planned. For new projects specify the ASE50X20, the current drop-in successor.

Mounting options are FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis, and the optional -S magnet lets CMSE / DMSE switches report rod position.
