This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE50X5 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE50X5 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X5 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 5mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE50X5 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP50X5 uses a 50 mm bore and a very short 5 mm stroke: air extends the rod, then the internal spring pulls it back home when pressure drops. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 875.5 N of push already net of the spring (1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa), and it needs only 0.2 MPa minimum and one air line to run. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped fixtures where a full-length body will not fit.
In practice, plan on roughly 525 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which is about 53 kgf - so this bore comfortably lifts around 44 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, the 16 mm S45C hard-chrome rod ends in a female M10x1.5 thread, and the air port is 1/8". Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ASE50X5 (swap the P for an E), so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap. The magnet is the optional -S code; without it no CMSE / DMSE switch can be fitted.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE50X5 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 875.5 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 1268.2 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 50 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×5 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 875.5 N push at 0.5 MPa over a 5 mm stroke is enough to seat small terminals or rivets in an electronics assembly jig, with the spring retracting the tool instantly on air-off.
A short-stroke ejector on a small mold: air extends the pin to release the part, the return spring clears the cavity automatically, and the compact body fits behind the mold plate.
On a packaging line, the rod presses a flap or label down for about 44 kg of vertical equivalent force while glue cures, then springs back to clear the passing carton.
Size by force, not bore alone: a 40 mm bore gives 556.8 N at 0.5 MPa while a 63 mm bore reaches 1420.5 N, so the 50 mm sits in the middle at 875.5 N. If your clamp or eject needs only a few millimetres of travel and one solenoid valve, this single acting push layout keeps plumbing simple. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued - order the ASE50X5 as the current drop-in and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
Push force is 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Operating pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, air filtered to 40 um, speed 50-500 mm/s, and temperature -20 to +70 C. The 50 mm bore drives a 16 mm rod through a 5 mm stroke from a single 1/8" port.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits tight jigs and guards. It is single acting push with spring return: if air is lost the spring drives the rod back to its retracted home position, it does not hold a mid-stroke position. A fixed TPU bumper decelerates the rod at each end, and mounting options are FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis. The model is discontinued - the ASE50X5 is the current drop-in.
