This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE63X10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE63X10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X10S

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X10S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 10mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE63X10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X10S

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP63X10S uses shop air to extend its 16 mm rod and an internal spring to retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing needs. At 0.5 MPa the net push is 1420.5 N after the spring, rising to 2044 N at 0.7 MPa; anything below 0.2 MPa will not beat the spring. The 10 mm stroke sits well inside the 250 mm standard range for the 63 mm bore, and the fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod without any adjustment.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in cramped fixture plates and guarding. For sizing, treat about 852 N (0.6 of the 0.5 MPa rating) as the practical working force, enough to lift roughly 72 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke signals. Note the ASP family is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ASE63X10, and you should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE63X10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø63mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa2044.0 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X10S Is Used

compress

Bearing press-fit station

The 1420.5 N net push at 0.5 MPa seats small bearings or bushings into housings on an assembly line, with the spring retracting the platen the moment air is dumped.

check_circle

Presence clamping on a CNC fixture

A 10 mm stroke is ideal for swing-clear clamps that confirm a casting is seated before machining; the fitted magnet plus a DMSE switch feeds the interlock.

vertical_align_bottom

Ejector on a packaging chute

Air extends the rod to kick a rejected carton off a conveyor lane; on air loss the spring pulls the plunger back so the lane clears itself without a second valve.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X10S with the ASE63X10S

At 63 mm bore this is the mid-heavy option: 1420.5 N net push at 0.5 MPa. Step down to the ASP50X10S for 875.5 N, or up to the ASP80X10S for 2316.2 N if the load grows. Because the spring always drives the rod home on air loss, do not use it to hold a mid-stroke position. Female M10x1.5 rod thread and a 1/8" PT port come as coded; FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mount to suit the fixture, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ASE63X10 as the current-production replacement and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X10S FAQ

The quoted forces are already net of the return spring: 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa. Air extends the rod; the spring retracts it, so only one air line is needed and the minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed 50-500 mm/s, and a 1/8" port on the 63 mm bore.

AirTAC no longer produces the ASP family. The current drop-in is the ASE63X10 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 63 mm bore, 10 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 compact format. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, and keep the -S code if you need the magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
