This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE63X5SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE63X5SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X5SB

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X5SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 5mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE63X5SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X5SB

Single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 16 mm rod and the internal spring pulls it back to the retracted home position, so only one air line is needed. At 0.5 MPa the bore 63 ASP63X5SB delivers 1420.5 N of push already net of the spring, rising to 2044 N at 0.7 MPa, with a short 5 mm stroke for quick clamp or eject moves. Working range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, and speed runs 50-500 mm/s.

The hard-anodized aluminium body and S45C hard-chrome rod sit in a short ISO 21287-class package that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, ideal for tight jigs and guarding. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod, and the -S magnet this model carries accepts CMSE / DMSE switches for end-of-stroke signals. Note: the ASP family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ASE63X5 (swap the P for an E), so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 850 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 72 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE63X5SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø63mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)
0.5 MPa1420.5 N
0.7 MPa2044.0 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

SOptional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet).
BRod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X5SB Is Used

compress

Fixture clamp on a CNC milling jig

The 5 mm stroke and 1420.5 N push at 0.5 MPa lock a machined aluminium housing against a hard stop in seconds, and the spring retracts the clamp the moment air is released for fast part changeover.

packaging

Eject pin on a carton forming station

One air line pushes finished cartons off a forming die at up to 500 mm/s, while the return spring clears the pin automatically between cycles without a second valve port.

sensors

Presence check on an electronics assembly line

With the fitted -S magnet driving a CMSE or DMSE switch, the short 5 mm probe stroke confirms a connector is seated before the conveyor index signal is released.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X5SB with the ASE63X5SB

Size by force: bore 63 gives 1420.5 N push at 0.5 MPa net of the spring; step down to bore 50 (875.5 N) for lighter clamps or up to bore 80 (2316.2 N) for heavier ejection. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position. This unit has the male rod thread (B code) and PT port thread; FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the same face. Because ASP is discontinued, order ASE63X5 as the current ISO 21287 replacement and verify mounting dimensions against your fixture.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE63X5SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X5SB FAQ

Push force is 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa, the operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, and speed is 50-500 mm/s. Air extends the rod; the spring retracts it, so on air loss the rod returns to the retracted home position rather than holding mid-stroke.

No - the ASP family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is ASE63X5, made by swapping the P for an E; it matches the same 63 mm bore, 5 mm stroke and force class in the short ISO 21287 body. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ASP was built to a DIN-standard footprint. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted for position signals.
