The AirTAC SAILF125X200-S is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a built-in mechanical lock in the front cover. Because the lock is spring-applied and air-released, cutting the release air drives a lock pin into the rod to securely hold the load at the extended stroke end without requiring live pressure. A carbon steel rod and a 1/2-inch PT port handle substantial thrust, delivering 6136 Newtons of push force at 0.5 MPa. The integrated -S magnet enables precise position tracking via CMSE reed or DMSE electronic solid-state sensors.

This model uses a variable air cushion at both ends, but the cushion at the locker end measures 24 mm, intentionally shorter than the 40 mm cushion on the free end to accommodate the locking mechanism. Remember that this cushion only decelerates the piston near the stroke terminal; the mechanical lock is what actually holds the load. For safety-critical vertical lifting applications, always add an independent safety measure alongside the cylinder lock.

How the Lock Holds

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the extended (rod-out) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.

The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the front-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Valve & safety notes: do not use a fast-exhaust valve with a lock cylinder; use an independent/individual-exhaust solenoid valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can release the lock. If human safety depends on the load staying held, add an independent safety measure.
