This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE100X25S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE100X25S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X25S

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X25S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE100X25S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X25S

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP100X25S uses shop air to extend its 25 mm rod and a return spring to retract it, so only one air line is needed. At the 100 mm bore it is the strongest model in the family: 3640.7 N of push at 0.5 MPa, rising to 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the spring. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into heavy clamping fixtures where a full-length body will not fit. Note the 0.2 MPa minimum working pressure is what it takes to overcome the spring.

This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body for end-of-stroke signalling. In practical terms, the 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa lifts about 371 kg against gravity, so with a 2:1 margin you can plan on raising roughly 185 kg vertically. The fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod at the ends of travel. Be aware the ASP family is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ASE100X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE100X25S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø100mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa5211.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X25S Is Used

compress

Press-fit of bearing sleeves

The 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa seats bearing sleeves into housing bores on a short-stroke assembly press, with the spring retracting the tooling between cycles.

precision_manufacturing

Heavy jig clamping on CNC fixtures

Clamps cast-iron workpieces on machining fixtures where the short body must fit inside the fixture envelope, and the CMSE switch confirms full clamp via the -S magnet.

forklift

Gate latch on pallet conveyor stops

Drives a heavy conveyor stop gate with about 185 kg of usable vertical lift margin, retracting automatically to the safe position whenever air pressure drops.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X25S with the ASE100X25S

Size by force first: at 0.5 MPa this 100 mm bore delivers 3640.7 N net of the spring, while the 80 mm bore gives 2316.2 N and the 63 mm bore 1420.5 N, so step down if your clamping or pressing load is under about 2200 N. Remember the spring returns the rod to its retracted home position on air loss - it will not hold a mid-stroke position, so add an external stop if you need one. The 1/4" port and female M16x1.5 rod thread suit standard fittings, and the -S magnet on this unit pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ASE100X25 as the current drop-in successor and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE100X25S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X25S FAQ

At 0.5 MPa the push is 3640.7 N and at 0.7 MPa it is 5211.5 N, both figures already net of the return spring. The cylinder is single acting: air extends the rod and the spring retracts it, so 0.2 MPa is the minimum pressure needed to move the load. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed 50-500 mm/s, and a 1/4" air port.

Order the ASE100X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 100 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ASP was built to a DIN-standard footprint. The -S magnet code on this unit carries over so CMSE / DMSE switches keep working.
