This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE100X5 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE100X5 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X5

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X5 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 5mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE100X5 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X5

Single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 25 mm rod and the internal spring pulls it back home, so only one air line is needed. At the 100 mm bore this is the strongest ASP in the range - 3640.7 N of push at 0.5 MPa (net of the spring) and 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof rating, and the rod travels just 5 mm at 50-500 mm/s. The body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod and a fixed TPU bumper at each end.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters when a 100 mm bore has to fit inside a press fixture or clamping gantry. As a working figure, plan on about 2184 N (roughly 222 kg) of real push at 0.5 MPa, or about 185 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ASE100X5, a drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE100X5 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø100mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)
0.5 MPa3640.7 N
0.7 MPa5211.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

SOptional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet).
BRod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X5 Is Used

compress

Short-stroke press stamping

A 5 mm stroke and 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa suits stamping a date code or witness mark onto aluminium housings on a bench press, where the spring return clears the part the moment air drops.

pan_tool

Clamping machined castings

On a CNC fixture for gearbox castings, the 100 mm bore clamps the part with about 2184 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa and releases automatically to the retracted home position at cycle end.

settings

Indexing a gate on packaging lines

The compact body, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, nudges a product stop or gate 5 mm inside a tight packaging machine frame at 50-500 mm/s.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X5 with the ASE100X5

Size both ways before ordering: if 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa is far more than the job needs, the ASP63X5 gives 1420.5 N in the same 5 mm stroke; if you need more, the 100 mm bore is already the top of the range. Because the spring drives the rod back on air loss, this cylinder returns to its retracted home position and will not hold a mid-stroke setting - use a double-acting ACE if you need position holding. Mounting brackets (FA/FB flange, LB foot, CA/CB clevis) bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches; without -S no magnet is fitted. This model is discontinued - order the ASE100X5 and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE100X5
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X5 FAQ

Push is 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa and 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa, the range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, speed is 50-500 mm/s, and the port is 1/4". When air is lost the spring drives the rod to its retracted home position; it does not hold a mid-stroke load.

It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, female M16x1.5 rod thread and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The model is discontinued; the ASE100X5 is the current drop-in replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
