AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE40X25B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE40X25B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP40X25B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE40X25B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP40X25B is a single acting push, spring-return compact cylinder: air extends the 12 mm rod and an internal spring retracts it, so one air line is all the plumbing needs. At the 40 mm bore it delivers 556.8 N of push at 0.5 MPa (808.1 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring, with a minimum working pressure of 0.2 MPa. The B code gives a male rod thread and the port is 1/8". Note that this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ASE40X25 (swap the P for an E), so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap.
The short ISO 21287 body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures, guards and gantries. In practice, plan on about 334 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa - roughly 34 kg - rather than the full rating, and for a vertical lift keep to about 28 kg with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, and the rod is S45C with hard chrome. If you need position feedback, order the -S variant to add the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches; this version has no magnet fitted.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Compare by force: the 32 mm bore gives 352.5 N at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to 50 mm raises it to 875.5 N - pick 40 mm when your clamp or eject load sits between those. Because the spring drives the rod home on air loss, this cylinder returns to the retracted position rather than holding a mid-stroke point. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the male rod thread (B code) suits external rod knuckles. Order ASP40X25BS instead if you want the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE sensors, and specify the ASE40X25 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
