AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE40X25SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE40X25SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP40X25SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE40X25SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP40X25SB extends its 12 mm rod on air and retracts on the built-in spring, so one air line is all the plumbing it needs. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 556.8 N of push net of the spring (808.1 N at 0.7 MPa), which lifts roughly 56 kgf; halve that for a 2:1 margin and you can raise about 28 kg vertically. The male rod thread (B code) and the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches are both part of this ordering code. It runs on 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um at 50-500 mm/s.
This model is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ASE40X25 (swap the P for an E), which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class. Its short ISO 21287-style body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight guards and jigs; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ASP follows the DIN-standard footprint. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 556.8 N push at 0.5 MPa nudges filled cartons off a 25 mm ejector plate, and the spring retracts the platen the moment the valve vents - no second solenoid valve required.
One air line clamps a machined aluminum bracket with about 334 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa; the male rod thread takes an I knuckle directly, and the -S magnet signals clamp-made to the PLC via a DMSE switch.
At 50-500 mm/s the rod sweeps mislabeled bottles off a conveyor lane within the short 25 mm stroke, and the fixed TPU bumper quiets the return stroke at both ends.
Size by force: the 40 mm bore gives 556.8 N at 0.5 MPa, while a 32 mm bore yields 352.5 N and a 50 mm bore 875.5 N at the same pressure - pick the smaller bore if your load sits under 350 N. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis brackets to your fixture, and order CMSE or DMSE switches only because this code already carries the optional -S magnet. For new designs, specify the ASE40X25 instead.
