This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE50X25B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE50X25B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X25B

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X25B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE50X25B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X25B

The ASP50X25B is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 16 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so only one air line is needed. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 875.5 N of push force net of the spring (1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa), and it starts working from just 0.2 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight clamping fixtures and guarded stations. Note this model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is the ASE50X25.

Practically, plan on about 525 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rating), which corresponds to lifting about 44 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for ejecting stamped parts or pressing small bushings. The male rod thread (B code) takes an external knuckle directly, the fixed TPU bumper at both ends absorbs end-of-travel shock, and the 1/8" port keeps plumbing compact. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant, which carries the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches; this version without the S code has no magnet fitted.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE50X25B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X25B Is Used

compress

Stamping press part ejection

The 875.5 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects finished stampings from a die nest on the extend stroke, and the spring retracts the platen automatically when the valve vents - no second solenoid valve needed.

precision_manufacturing

Bushing press-fit station

With about 525 N of usable working force, the 50 mm bore presses small bushings into housings on an assembly line; the male rod thread (B code) accepts a press ram or knuckle directly.

vertical_align_bottom

Packaging machine hold-down

Air extends the hold-down pad onto cartons at the glue station, and the return spring lifts it clear on air loss, so the station fails to a safe open position during an emergency stop.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X25B with the ASE50X25B

Size by force first: at 0.5 MPa the 50 mm bore gives 875.5 N net push, while a 40 mm bore gives 556.8 N and a 63 mm bore gives 1420.5 N - step up if your tooling needs more than about 525 N of working force. Remember the spring returns the rod to its retracted home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position under load. Mounting options are FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis; add the -S code if CMSE / DMSE switch sensing is required. Since the ASP is discontinued, order the ASE50X25 as the drop-in successor and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE50X25B
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP50X25B FAQ

Push force is 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 1268.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. It is a single acting push, spring-return cylinder with a 50 mm bore, 25 mm stroke, 16 mm rod, 1/8" port and male rod thread (B code). Operating pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the fluid must be air filtered to 40 um. The model is discontinued; the ASE50X25 is the current replacement.

It uses a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends to soften end-of-travel. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis brackets bolt straight to it. Switches are possible only on the -S variant: ordering the optional -S magnet lets CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches sense position; this standard code has no magnet, so confirm the -S option when ordering.
