AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE80X10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X10 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 10mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE80X10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP80X10 uses an 80 mm bore and a 10 mm stroke to deliver 2316.2 N of push at 0.5 MPa (3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa), both figures already net of the return spring. Air extends the rod; the spring retracts it to the normally retracted home position, so only one air line is needed and the minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits tight press fixtures and guarded assemblies where a full-length body cannot.
The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a 20 mm S45C hard-chrome rod, a 1/4" supply port and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. With the 0.5 MPa push figure, plan on roughly 1390 N (about 141 kg of force) for real work, or think of it as lifting about 118 kg vertically once you halve the 236 kgf equivalent for a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE80X10, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 2316.2 N net push at 0.5 MPa clamps or stamps aluminium brackets in a 10 mm move, and the compact body slots into a press head where a full-length profile cylinder will not fit.
Air extends the rod to kick a machined housing off its locating pin; the spring retracts it home when air drops, so the station self-clears with a single 1/4" air line.
Holds flaps down during taping at up to 500 mm/s approach speed; on air loss the spring lifts the pad clear, releasing the carton without a control valve.
Size by force first: at 0.5 MPa this bore pushes 2316.2 N net of the spring, while a 63 mm bore gives 1420.5 N and a 100 mm bore reaches 3640.7 N. If your clamp or eject needs more than about 1390 N of usable force, stay at 80 mm or step up. The 10 mm stroke suits short eject or clamp moves only - single acting strokes stay short, and speed runs 50-500 mm/s. Mount with FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis; add the optional -S code if you need CMSE or DMSE switches, since without -S there is no magnet. Order the ASE80X10 as the current drop-in and verify the ISO 21287 mounting footprint.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the push is 2316.2 N and at 0.7 MPa it is 3321.5 N - both already net of the return spring, so no further derating for the spring is needed. The cylinder is single acting: air extends the rod and the spring retracts it, needing at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, and speed runs 50-500 mm/s. On air loss the spring returns the rod to its retracted home position; it does not hold a mid-stroke load.
Order the ASE80X10, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 80 mm bore, 10 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ASP was built to a DIN-standard compact pattern. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings carry over, and the optional -S magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches is available on the replacement too.
