AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE12X10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP12X10B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE12X10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the discontinued ASP12X10B extends its 6 mm rod with air and lets the return spring retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing takes. In the 12 mm bore the net push is 40 N at 0.5 MPa (62.7 N at 0.7 MPa, already net of the spring), and it starts moving from just 0.2 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build, saving roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures and small guards.
Practically, plan on about 24 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa - roughly a 2 kg vertical lift with margin - so match it to light caps, tiny levers or sensor flags rather than heavy tooling. The rod end is male thread (the B code) and the port is M5x0.8. No magnet is fitted on this code; the optional -S magnet is what enables CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued, and the current-production drop-in is ASE12X10 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A short 10 mm kick clears rejected boards off a test nest; 40 N at 0.5 MPa is enough for light panels, and the spring retracts the rod the moment air drops.
Ordered with the optional -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract inside a guard where a full-length body would not fit.
About 24 N of practical holding force at 0.5 MPa secures delicate parts; the male rod thread (B code) takes an I/Y knuckle directly.
At 40 N net push (0.5 MPa) this 12 mm bore suits grams-to-tens-of-newtons jobs; step to the 16 mm bore at 78.4 N or the 20 mm bore at 127.4 N if the load is heavier, or drop to the smallest size only if space is truly critical. The spring returns the rod home on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke position, so do not use it to park a load. Mounting brackets and the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches carry over to the replacement ASE12X10, which is the current ISO 21287 successor.
