AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE32X20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X20B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE32X20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP32X20B is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 12 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so only one air line is needed and the rod sits retracted whenever pressure drops below the 0.2 MPa minimum. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 352.5 N of push net of the spring, rising to 513.4 N at 0.7 MPa, with a male rod thread (the B code) on the rod end and a 1/8" PT supply port. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE32X20, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. In practice, plan on about 211 N (roughly 21 kg of push) of usable work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which comfortably ejects or seats small assemblies. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, and the optional -S magnet (not fitted on this code) is what allows CMSE / DMSE switch mounting.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Size by force: the 25 mm bore gives 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa for lighter ejection work, while stepping up to the 40 mm bore reaches 556.8 N if your part seating needs more margin. Remember the spring return drives the rod home on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke position, so add an external stop if you need one. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting to your fixture, and order the -S code if you later want CMSE / DMSE sensing. For new projects, specify the ASE32X20 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
