This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE32X20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE32X20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X20B

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X20B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE32X20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X20B

The ASP32X20B is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 12 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so only one air line is needed and the rod sits retracted whenever pressure drops below the 0.2 MPa minimum. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 352.5 N of push net of the spring, rising to 513.4 N at 0.7 MPa, with a male rod thread (the B code) on the rod end and a 1/8" PT supply port. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE32X20, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. In practice, plan on about 211 N (roughly 21 kg of push) of usable work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which comfortably ejects or seats small assemblies. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, and the optional -S magnet (not fitted on this code) is what allows CMSE / DMSE switch mounting.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE32X20B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø32mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)
0.5 MPa352.5 N
0.7 MPa513.4 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X20B Is Used

compress

Press-fit ejection

Ejects small pressed bushings or pins from a compact assembly die, using the 352.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and the short body that fits inside the die shoe.

packaging

Carton hold-down

Springs a hold-down pad onto cartons at a packaging station; on air loss the spring lifts the pad clear automatically, releasing the box.

precision_manufacturing

Fixture part clamping

Pushes a small clamp plunger on a CNC jig with the male rod thread (B code) bolting straight to a knuckle, retracting clear when the cycle ends.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X20B with the ASE32X20B

Size by force: the 25 mm bore gives 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa for lighter ejection work, while stepping up to the 40 mm bore reaches 556.8 N if your part seating needs more margin. Remember the spring return drives the rod home on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke position, so add an external stop if you need one. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting to your fixture, and order the -S code if you later want CMSE / DMSE sensing. For new projects, specify the ASE32X20 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE32X20B
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X20B FAQ

Net of the return spring it pushes 352.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 513.4 N at 0.7 MPa on a 32 mm bore with a 20 mm stroke. Operating pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the air must be filtered to 40 um. The minimum 0.2 MPa is what it takes to overcome the spring.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits inside tight guards and jigs. The B code gives a male rod thread for direct knuckle or fixture attachment, the port is 1/8", and FA/FB, LB and CA/CB mountings bolt to the standard face. This model is discontinued - the ASE32X20 is the current drop-in, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
