AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE32X20SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X20SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE32X20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the discontinued ASP32X20SB extends its 12 mm rod on air and retracts on the spring, needing only one air line and a minimum of 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. This 32 mm bore unit delivers 352.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa (513.4 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the return spring. The S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling. The B code gives a male rod thread and the port thread is PT.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarded stations. In practice, plan on about 211 N (roughly 21 kg of thrust) of usable work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, and expect the spring to drive the rod home on air loss rather than hold a mid-stroke position. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ASE32X20, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 352.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small bearings or dowel pins in an electronics assembly fixture, with the spring clearing the part the moment air is released.
A 20 mm stroke is ideal for nudging machined housings off a locating nest between robot picks; the fitted -S magnet and a DMSE switch confirm ejection to the PLC.
On a packaging line, the single acting push clamps flap-folders down for taping; one air line keeps plumbing simple and the TPU bumpers quiet the return stroke.
At 32 mm bore you get 352.5 N at 0.5 MPa; if your load needs less, the 25 mm bore offers 210.1 N, and if it needs more, step up to the 40 mm bore at 556.8 N. The 20 mm stroke suits short clamp or eject moves, and speed runs 50-500 mm/s. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the same face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Since the ASP is discontinued, order ASE32X20 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
