AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE32X25 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE32X25 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X25 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE32X25 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP32X25 is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the rod and the internal spring pulls it back to the retracted home position, so only one air line is needed. It is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ISO 21287 ASE32X25, which matches the same 32 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since this model follows the DIN-standard footprint. At 0.5 MPa the push force is 352.5 N net of the return spring (513.4 N at 0.7 MPa), and the spring only starts to move once supply reaches 0.2 MPa.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs, guards and gantries. A practical sizing rule: plan for about 210 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rating), which corresponds to lifting about 18 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a 12 mm S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M8x1.25 thread, a fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the optional -S magnet (ordered as ASP32X25S) enables CMSE / DMSE switches - without the S code there is no magnet fitted.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 352.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps aluminium brackets against a hard stop in a 25 mm stroke, and the spring retracts the platen the moment the valve vents - no second air line to the fixture.
Mounted via an FB flange, the short body fits inside the machine guard where a full-length profile cylinder would not, ejecting small cartons at 50-500 mm/s between sensors.
Ordered as ASP32X25S, the optional magnet lets CMSE / DMSE switches confirm the rod is fully extended on an assembly station, cutting scrap from missing-part errors.
Size both ways: if 352.5 N at 0.5 MPa is more than your job needs, the ASP25X25 delivers 210.1 N in the same 25 mm stroke; if you need more, step up to the ASP40X25 at 556.8 N. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss - it does not hold a mid-stroke position. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting to your fixture, and add the -S code only if you need CMSE / DMSE position switches. For new builds, order the ASE32X25 instead, as this model is out of production.
Replacement checklist
Push force is 352.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 513.4 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof; the spring needs at least 0.2 MPa to be overcome. Air must be filtered to 40 um, speed range is 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the 1/8" port serves the 32 mm bore.
Order the ASE32X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 32 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class in a short compact body. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, and note the ASE is double acting, so plan a second air line for the return stroke.
