AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE32X5S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X5S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 5mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE32X5S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP32X5S uses air to extend its 12 mm rod and the internal spring to retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing needs. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 352.5 N of push net of the spring (513.4 N at 0.7 MPa), and it needs at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke detection. Note: the ASP family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE32X5.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it drops into tight jigs, guards and gantry arms where a full-length body will not fit. Practical sizing: treat about 210 N (0.6 of the 0.5 MPa push) as the usable working force, which corresponds to lifting roughly 10 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries a 1/8" PT port, and the female M8x1.25 rod thread accepts standard rod knuckles.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 352.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small aluminium housings into a press fixture, and the 5 mm stroke suits a short confirm-or-eject move.
On a CNC jig, air extends the rod to nudge a finished bushing off its locating pin; the spring retracts it the moment the valve vents, freeing the next cycle.
Because this model carries the -S magnet, a CMSE or DMSE switch on the 32 mm body confirms the part-detect probe has returned, wiring straight into the PLC input.
Size the load both ways: the 25 mm bore gives 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to the 40 mm bore raises it to 556.8 N - pick the 32 mm when 352.5 N at 0.5 MPa covers the job with margin. Remember the spring returns the rod home on air loss, so this cylinder will not hold an arbitrary mid-stroke position. Pair it with FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting, and since this unit is ordered with the -S magnet, CMSE / DMSE switches are ready to bolt on. For new projects, specify the ASE32X5 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, as the ASP follows the older DIN-standard footprint.
