The AirTAC Airtac SCD Standard Cylinder SCD100X75 is a genuine double-acting DOUBLE-ROD air cylinder: the Ø25mm piston rod extends from BOTH end caps, giving equal effective area — and therefore equal force — in push and pull. Ø100mm bore, 75mm stroke, PT1/2 ports and adjustable end cushioning.
The SCD100X75 is a double-acting, double-rod pneumatic cylinder that gives you exactly the same force and speed in both directions—3681 N at 0.5 MPa. Because the 25 mm rod passes through both end caps, the effective piston area is identical on the push and pull strokes, making it ideal for tasks where balanced, repeatable motion matters more than peak thrust in one direction.
With a 75 mm stroke and a body length A(SCD) of 263 mm, this tie-rod cylinder fits compact two-sided tooling setups. The rear rod extension can carry a sensor flag, a mechanical stop, or a secondary tool, while the PT1/2 ports and adjustable air cushion at each end let you dial in smooth deceleration for both advancing and retracting movements.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC SCD (double-rod) datasheet. Because the rod runs through both caps, the effective area is (bore² − rod²) in both directions. Confirm against the product label before installation. Thread options: PT (standard) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 3682 N | 3682 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 5154 N | 5154 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 751 kgf | |
Push and pull are EQUAL on a double-rod cylinder — both chambers lose the rod area, so effective area = (bore² − rod²) each way. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure; size with a safety margin.

The equal push/pull force moves a shuttle table or transfer bar in both directions with identical acceleration, preventing the lopsided motion a single-rod cylinder would create.
Mount a pressing tool on the front rod and a stripper plate or limit-stop on the rear rod. Both ends move together, simplifying the mechanical design of a two-operation work cell.
The twin-rod support inherently resists rotation better than a single rod, helping keep a wide pusher plate aligned without adding an external guide for short-stroke, low-side-load applications.
Choose the SCD100 when your application needs roughly 3700 N of balanced force at standard plant air pressure. If you can accept a lower force, the SCD80 delivers 2268 N at 0.5 MPa and is lighter; if you need more, step up to the SCD125 at 5734 N. Remember that a double-rod cylinder is a poor choice if you only need force from one side—a single-rod SC100 gives you a higher push force because the full bore area is available on the extend stroke.
For a drop-in replacement, match the 100 mm bore, 75 mm stroke, PT port thread, basic mounting, and the absence of a magnet. This model can be ordered with a built-in magnet (SCD100X75-S) for barrel-mounted sensors, or with a centre trunnion (SCD100X75TC) if the cylinder needs to pivot.
Double-rod checklist
Push and pull force are identical because the rod extends through both ends. At 0.5 MPa you get 3681 N, at 0.7 MPa it is 5153 N, and at the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa the force reaches 6626 N in both directions.
Pick the SCD100 when you need perfectly symmetrical force and speed for both extend and retract, or when you need a rear rod end to mount sensors, stops, or secondary tooling. If you only need high force in one direction and want a smaller footprint, the single-rod SC100 is the better choice because its push stroke uses the full bore area for greater thrust.
